A power surge is one of the leading causes of electrical fires in Texas and the whole of the United States, so it is necessary to install industrial surge protection devices in your facility. That’s part of our services at Blessed Electric & Air. When there’s a sudden increase in voltage, your surge protectors will divert the excess voltage to your grounding wires.
You may not be able to eliminate the power surges, but you can determine how your electrical system responds to them. Without surge protectors, your wires and electrical appliances may get fried. Of course, our surge protection services come at a cost, but the cost is nothing compared to the cost of the replacement of burned electrical appliances.
At the moment, there are only three types of surge protective devices. We can categorize them as Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3.
As far as we’re concerned, your home, office, or store needs the three types of protectors. Why? This is because no single protector can handle 100% power surge. It can only divert a fraction of the excess voltage. To understand why you need the three layers of protection, consider this analogy.
Your house has three concentric gates, and a vehicle with a failed brake heads over to your house. It rams through the first gate. The gate didn’t stop it, but it reduced the vehicle’s momentum. The vehicle also runs through the second gate. Again, the gate could not stop it but reduced its momentum further.
Finally, it runs through the third gate. Although the gate was badly damaged like the other two, it was able to stop the vehicle. Fortunately, the vehicle couldn’t come in contact with your structure. And that is because the first two gates had reduced its momentum tremendously. If the house had only one gate, the chances are high that the vehicle will run into the gate and hit your main structure. This is why you need the three layers of power surge protection.
The installation of power surge protectors is just a single leg of the protection. You must also take care of the other leg. Your grounding system has to be effective too. The protective devices may not be able to divert the excess voltage if your grounding system is poor.
Blessed Electric & Air can help you inspect your grounding system, and we can fix it or upgrade it before we install the surge protectors. At this juncture, we’d like to remind you that we have been licensed to offer all the services that we offer. In addition, all our electricians are insured, trained, and well-equipped to do the job.
We are not the only electrician offering residential, commercial, and industrial surge protection, but we distinguish ourselves with the quality of service, speed of service, and competitive charges. None of our competitors will do the job for as low as we charge.
And if you already have protective devices installed, let’s assess them. They may no longer be as effective as possible. Don’t wait until a power surge damages your equipment before you upgrade them.
If you’re thinking of upgrading your surge protectors or installing new ones, don’t hesitate to contact Blessed Electric & Air. We’ll be glad to handle the job. And if you have questions to ask, we’ll love to answer them too.
