As a motion lighting expert, we think it is necessary for every home to have the technology due to its several benefits. However, whether you have installed indoor and outdoor motion lighting at home or you’re about to install it, there are several things we want you to know about the technology.

What You should Know About Motion Lighting

You Need To Aim the Detector Well

The motion detecting light fixture allows the detector to face a specific area. The area it faces matters a lot. If it faces an area where pests or rodents roam around often, the light will come on virtually all night. And if you aim the sensor at the ground, it may not capture human movement from a good distance.

A trespasser may have gotten too close before the light comes on, if it does at all. Hence, you may need the help of an expert to set the detector.

The Sensitivity Of The Sensor Has To Be Moderate

If the sensitivity of your motion detector is too high, the light could come on just because of a common fly. And if it is not sensitive enough, the arrival of a prowler may not even set it off. This is another reason why you need to consult an expert all the time.

And if you have noticed any of the two issues with your motion lightning detector, you already have an idea of what the problem could be.

The Duration Of The Light Shouldn’t Be Too Long

Some people set their motion lighting to stay for up to 5 minutes before it goes off. This is not ideal. This is too long. A lot can happen within 5 minutes. If a stray dog comes around and the light comes on, you may peep through your window and see that it’s just a dog.

If someone quickly joins the dog, you won’t know because the light will remain on. It can only come on if it has gone off. So, we think the ideal light duration should be about 1 – 2 minutes.

Your Sensor Needs To Be Clean Always

Dirt can clog your motion detector and hinder its performance. When it is dirty, its sensitivity will drop. A sensor covered with dirt cannot sense movements accurately. This is why you should clean your sensor regularly.

The Light Can Stay On

In response to a power surge, power outage, or tripped breaker, your motion lighting can stay on indefinitely. When it happens, don’t panic. It’s not much of a problem. Switch off the power supply and leave it off for about 30 seconds, then switch it on again. This will reset your motion lighting detector.

We Do Maintenance and Repairs Too

Apart from the installation of indoor and outdoor motion lighting, we also do maintenance and repairs. If you have any problem with your indoor or outdoor motion lighting, you can contact us right away. We will come over and troubleshoot the system.

In addition, we offer competitive charges. Most importantly, we have the experience and equipment to handle the job. Unlike others, we have a presence in all the cities in Texas. So, if you’re a building contractor that has properties in several cities, you don’t need to hire different service providers for each city. We can handle them all.

It is more convenient and more cost-effective to hire a single service provider. At Blessed Electric & Air, we offer high-quality services all the time. We handle residential, commercial, and industrial indoor and outdoor motion lighting.

After installation, we can help you maintain the system as well. If you’re yet to install motion lighting, you’re missing out big time.
